Located next to the third largest barrier reef in the world, SNUBA Key West offers more than 15 incredible dive locations for SNUBA enthusiasts to explore and experience the mesmerizing underwater world surrounding the Florida Keys.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Joshua Goldurs moved to the Keys in 2009 and immediately started training as a diver. Upon completion of his PADI rescue diver certification, Joshua landed his first professional diving job with SNUBA Key West. After seeing first hand how amazingly unique SNUBA was, he was hooked. At that point, Joshua knew that owning his own SNUBA Recreation Center was his destiny.
Little did he know, he didn’t need to look far. The SNUBA Key West business was put up for sale in 2014, and after a long process, the keys (no pun intended) were handed over to Joshua in August of 2015.
Since taking over as the Director of Operations, nearly every aspect of the SNUBA Key West business has grown and thrived – from guest offerings and experiences to logistics and dive sites. SNUBA Key West currently operates a fleet consisting of three vessels that are utilized for everything from SNUBA dives to small, semi private charters and even charters for large groups of up to 36 people.
GOOD TIMES
SNUBA Key West operates a 47 foot Broad-Deck Catamaran called the Good Times. The boat was constructed in 2012 and features all new marine audio equipment, a full-sized marine head (bathroom) and a full wet bar. With a crew of over 20 Guides, Captains, and marine support specialists, SNUBA Key West is able to offer other activities in combination with SNUBA like regular scuba diving, PADI dive instruction, as well as private sandbar charters and the famous Key West Cocktail Cruise!
“If you are fortunate enough to spend time in Key West, you should certainly consider one of our charter cruises. Everyone is aware of the fact that there are some spectacular sunsets to see in the Florida Keys, and Mallory Square is the well-known scene of the party. It is definitely a lot of fun to be part of this crowd, but experiencing the sunset with your friends, family, or coworkers on our beautiful, state-of-the-art 47 foot vessel is even more special”.

AMAZING SNUBA
The Florida Keys barrier reef is unique in that it’s made of many smaller patch reefs, each with interesting features. In some places, the reef consists of shallow sandy areas; in others, enormous coral gardens that have been growing and blossoming for centuries. As a result, there are endless opportunities to see a variety of fish and marine life. In fact, Key West is known for its vibrant and diverse underwater ecosystem.
Parrotfish, Nurse Sharks, Barracudas, Sea Turtles Goliath Grouper, Moray Eels, Spotted Eagle Rays, Lobsters, Yellowtail Snappers, Blue Tang, Filefish, Puffer Fish. Whew. The list is too long to name. There are approximately 400 different types of fish that inhabit the coral reefs in Key West! If you’re in the Keys, you’ve gotta book a SNUBA tour with SNUBA Key West.
CORAL RESTORATION TRAINING
Did you know that coral reefs have been around for more than 50 million years, yet they could all be gone by the end of this century?
The Coral Restoration Foundation™ has developed a strategy to protect and restore endangered coral reefs while also educating others to implement similar programs in their own coastal communities.
Many of these corals have now grown into thriving colonies with the ability to spawn, kick-starting the reefs’ natural process of recovery.
So how does it all work? Corals are grown in offshore Coral Tree™ Nurseries, and then outplanted onto carefully selected sites. Since 2007, more than 120,000 critically endangered staghorn and elkhorn corals have been returned back onto the Florida Reef Tract.
EDUCATION
The Coral Restoration Foundation™ offers a challenging intern program where you’ll work with a dynamic team within a structured learning environment as you learn to contribute on a professional level to a thriving, world-class non-profit dedicated to coral reef restoration.
